What is a cochlear implant? Cochlear introduction

Cochlear implant is an electronic implant that simulates the working principle of human cochlear hair cells, also known as “electron cochlear”. If there is a very serious hearing loss, and the hearing aid has no obvious effect, you can consider implanting a cochlear implant.

2The working principle of cochlear implant:

The implant implants the implant receiving coil into the sacral mastoid and implants the electrode set into the cochlear tympanic. The extracorporeal transmitting coil and the inner receiving coil are mutually adsorbed by a magnet.

The microphone of the extracorporeal machine is responsible for collecting sound, and the speech processor is responsible for converting the acoustic signal into an electrical signal. The coil sends an electrical signal to the body electrode set. The electrode group generates an electric current that acts on the corresponding end of the cochlear auditory nerve. The auditory nerve transmits the perceived nerve impulses to the auditory center of the brain, and the hearing is thus produced.

3Cochlear implants and hearing aids

Hearing aids use the principle of sound amplification, requiring patients to have residual hearing. The cochlear implant bypasses the damaged inner ear and directly stimulates the auditory nerve endings. It does not depend on the patient’s participation in hearing, but has certain risks and is more expensive.
