Shopping channels (also known in British English as teleshopping) are a type of television program or specialty channel devoted to home shopping. Their formats typically feature live presentations and demonstrations of products, hosted by on-air presenters and other spokespeople who provide a sales pitch for the product. Viewers are also instructed on how they can order the product. Shopping channels may focus primarily on mainstream merchandise, or more specialized categories such as high-end fashion and jewelry. The term can also apply to channels whose contents consist solely of infomercials.

The concept was first popularized in the United States in the 1980s, when Lowell “Bud” Paxson and Roy Speer launched a local cable channel known as the Home Shopping Club—which later launched nationally as the Home Shopping Network. It later gained competition from QVC, who would eventually acquire HSN in 2017. Home shopping channels originally relied on telephone ordering, but have since been required to emphasize online shopping as part of their business models in order to compete with online-only competitors (while distinguishing themselves with their use of on-air pitches and offers to entice potential customers).

Hearing aids vs. sound amplifiers

Some people who are looking for a quick fix, without having to spend too much money, settle for a sound amplifier. The idea is, if you can’t hear, all you need is an increase in volume. The louder the better. TV shopping hearing aids are an affordable – yet temporary – solution to hearing loss. In the long run, however, an amplifier will not adequately address the root cause of your condition.
Hearing aids are medical devices designed to treat hearing loss. An audiologist or hearing care professional, therefore, needs to evaluate your hearing to recommend a suitable device. A good hearing instrument needs to do more than make everything louder. In fact, it needs to make things like voices and speech clearer. A common complaint among people with hearing difficulties is, they can hear, but can’t understand. This is because we use our brains to listen, not our ears. A hearing aid that is tailored to your needs by a hearing specialist will automatically locate the source of sound and amplify it, while cancelling out background noise. The technology of modern digital hearing aids offers many benefits that an amplifier does not have.

Some of the features include:

  • Bluetooth wireless connectivity
  • Connects to smartphones and other digital devices
  • Automatic speech recognition
  • Noise reduction Automatic adjustments to settings based on your environment
  • Custom listening programs
  • Tinnitus therapy
  • Ultra discreet design
